EVENTS | ||
Opportunities: Below is the list of the types of events and activities that Rensselaer Land Trust regularly engages in. Clean-up workdays – throughout the year, we organize roadside and preserve clean-ups involving the Boy Scouts, fraternities, community group volunteers. Historic Cemetery Restoration – volunteers work to restore a historic mid 19th century cemetery. Trail Construction and Trail Work Days – we own 7 nature preserves and have opened up 378 acres to the public. Trail work and maintenance is done every year. Tree and Native Plantings – Each year, we plant native trees and shrubs along various stream and river shorelines to promote soil retention and shaded fish water habitat. Hoosic River Paddle – every summer we paddle over 8 miles on the Hoosic River. This is a very popular trip with over 40 boats participating. Tomhannock Reservoir Clean-Up – the Tomhannock Reservoir provides fresh clean drinking water for over 125,000 people. Every year, we organize a spring shoreline clean-up. Educational Hikes and Talks – yearly favorites include wildflower hikes, ecology hikes, mushroom identifications, and history hikes. |
