  • Mushroom Walk and Intensive Guided ID for Experienced

    Sue Van Hook, local mycologist, will lead us into the woods at one of our forests or preserves.  Participants will gather mushrooms during an hour interval.  We will then make our way over to another location to eat lunch (bring your own) and then Sue will guide us through the process of identifying the mushrooms we collected and others that you have found using hand lens, spore prints, and available books.  We will work in pairs to continue self identi?cation of our found mushrooms. Bring a basket or bag with stiff sides, a field knife or trowel, and a hand lens if you have one along with any mushroom identication books you may have. 

     

    Registration fee $30/person, this is for adults and serious teens.

  • The Top Ten Edible Non-Gilled Mushrooms

    Due to the overwhelming interest in our mushroom workshop held in May we are offering a second mushroom lecture presented by mycologist Sue Van Hook.  Come learn about ten mushrooms you can safely pick and eat from the forest.


    Come early to sign-in so the lecture can start promptly at 7:00 pm.

    Location: Cowee IV conference room, Russell Sage Troy Campus on 1st St
    Registration fee:  $10 per person. This workshop is limited, please register ASAP.
