Over forty friends of the Rensselaer Land Trust gathered for the RLT Annual Meeting at Brown's Brewing's Revolution Hall. After a delicious breakfast buffet, Executive Director Christine Young reviewed RLT's accomplishments in its 24th year. She explained some of the projects we will undertake in 2012, our 25th anniversary year. Board President Nick Conrad introduced and thanked volunteers and easement donors. Alice LeBlanc (shown at left), former senior economist at the Environmental Defense Fund and now an independent consultant, spoke about global sustainability and climate change. She explained why urgent action is needed, and showed how carbon trading by corporations and governments can fund sustainability projects around the world.
